My Story
Scottish born, Allan Jack is a realism artist and works only with graphite pencil, he is
self-taught.
Allan studied Art at the Glasgow School of Art in 1958, for one day. Exhausted by
this experience, he decided to take a gap year from his studies, which eventually
stretched to 58 gap years. He returned to the Art scene in 2017, concentrating on
portraiture.
He has achieved moderate success in this genre, having participated in the 2018
and the 2021 Mansfield Three Faces Portrait Art Prize, and winning the prize in 2021.
He has exhibited in and around the Mansfield area and the AGRA gallery and other
galleries in Melbourne.
People and pet portrait commissions keep him busy during the year and during quiet
periods he will indulge and challenge himself with linear perspective, animals, birds,
and landscapes.
