My Story
Chris grew up on a farm in the Mansfield district. He mucked around at Merrijig and Mansfield primary schools for a bit, then for 2 Years, the Nuns & sisters tried prayer at FCJ College before shipment to boarding school. Farms are for breaking stuff, and machines only break when you need them, so through his own mistakes and accidents, he soon learned to weld. He built a forge at 14 years old and took a love to working with steel and creating art.
He ran wild for a bit, tested many careers, had a ball, and found a Bride. Pretty soon, the kids popped up. Time to get serious, so for the love of steel, he became a qualified Boilermaker and tried just about every aspect of the trade, but always enjoyed his art the most. With Sherrie at his side, their boys, Angus and Oscar, soon became the foundation of CAOS (Chris, Angus, Oscar, Sherrie), and in 2009, CAOS Concepts was born.
The workshop in Crosbys Lane has become a playground for steel art and sculptures. Aside from all the custom signage and fabrication work, the yard has a huge variety to suit your garden or wall, from outdoor sculptures to fire pits and fairies, garden gongs, dinosaurs, gnomes, creatures, and dragonflies. He uses a variety of materials to create his sculptures, mostly mild and Corten steel, but also stainless steel and aluminium. Recycled steel parts are incorporated into a lot of the pieces, along with rock and plant features. Well worth a visit, you never know what you might find!
