Mandy Willaton
Ceramicist
Exhibiting at The Clay Stables
My Story
Mandy is a ceramic artist and designer located in beautiful Alexandra. She trained as a Graphic Designer and worked for many years in advertising and design agencies both in Melbourne and Queensland, later shifting her career to the film industry, where she worked both in Australia and overseas.
Mandy rediscovered her love of clay and all things ceramic in 2018, and established a home studio over the lockdown period. Moving to Alexandra to enjoy semi-retirement in 2022, she has found a lot more time to indulge her creativity, finding inspiration in the local environment.
Mandy’s work covers a broad range with a constantly evolving style, and ranges from garden totems, which she has exhibited for the last 2 years at Sculpture at Acheron, to garden art and colourful functional homewares. She mainly utilises a slab roller and clay extruder using a variety of stoneware clays to create her works. She is currently experimenting with a Microwave Kiln making Raku jewellery pieces and building a pit fire kiln in the backyard.
