My Story
Suzanne has been making clothes and all things textile since she was 8. The knowledge and skills required for dressmaking were passed down by her mother and grandmother.
While in secondary school, she loved creating and helping others with sewing projects.
Her ability grew from making her own deb dress at 15 to creating outfits for entire wedding parties.
Suzanne trained formally at Box Hill TAFE and headed into the world of fashion, working for Country Road. During this time, Suzanne worked privately, offering dressmaking services from home. Eventually, the fashion industry changed, and the internet gave people more shopping options, so fewer people needed a dress made from scratch.
Suzanne then expanded her passion for dressmaking by teaching Nepalese people to sew. Travelling to Nepal opened new horizons in textiles and colour.
Suzanne is passionate about reducing fast fashion waste. She finds that teaching re-purposing and recycling gives people a sense of achievement and purpose.
Continuing with her teaching, Suzanne's current focus is to foster community relationships by providing a beautiful space for people to come together and sew. She welcomes people of all skill levels to her classes with joy and enthusiasm. Suzanne works to empower people to be more self-sufficient and guide them every step of the way, from fabric selection to the final creation of their desired item.
In between teaching and dressmaking services, Suzanne creates embroidery products reflecting her beautiful surroundings. She creates clothing, homewares with deer, mountains, dog, and flower motifs.
