Born in Swan Hill, Judy loved to draw and paint from a young age. After completing a Fine Arts degree at ‘BCAE’ in Bendigo Judy completed a Dip Ed pursuing a career in art education.
While teaching in various schools Judy continued her love of the Australian landscape and experimenting with different techniques of applying paint. Working primarily in acrylics, she used numerous mediums to manipulate and create texture.
Judy also created using other mediums such as silk painting, clay, fabrics, and bookmaking. She is a keen photographer, capturing images to help explore themes and imagery for paintings, while also exploring the world of hand-produced photos in the darkroom was an addiction as Judy loved capturing events important to her world.
Inspired by Post Impressionists, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Degas, and Matisses’ use of colour and pattern to create abstract realism, Judy was blessed to have travelled to Europe to experience their works first-hand. Later travels to the USA and Italy also offered further inspiration for her work.
While teaching private students for the past ten years, Judy has developed a unique style combining different techniques and mediums. She now predominantly works combining mixed media, collage, and painting techniques to create a visual dance for the eyes.
