My Story
Julia has been a professional artist/designer for most of her life, working in various artistic fields and mediums. However, for the most part she has been creating designs and artworks that use glass as the primary material.
Her love for the medium of glass grew when working as a designer for a leading leadlight/stained glass company in Melbourne. There she learnt many of the skills and techniques she has employed in her work for many years.
While Julia now often produces more functional pieces, such as glass coasters and small glass platters, she is also known for creating unusual glass artworks that are best described as glass collages, pictures or sculptures.
These unique pieces are usually created using a bonding method, a technique rarely seen in Australia, but are also often made by fusing and/or slumping the glass.
Such artworks may incorporate unusual objects, along with traditional techniques or methods, such as painting or staining and sometimes experimental processes.
Julia’s artworks can be found in private collections in Australia, USA and Europe.
