Julie has a love of the Australian landscape in all its many forms. She lives in amongst the bush and her studio looks out on the tall gums that she constantly paints at different times of the day to catch the light. Oil painting lends itself to the texture and lushness of the bush.
Being a self-taught artist, Julie has tried to learn from the Australian Impressionists. Their influence has made her strive to capture the heat, dust, and light of the bush.
She has always had a pencil in her hand and a love of drawing has helped her learn the fundamentals of art. Coming late to oil painting has made her strive even harder to excel and become a passionate student.
