My Story
Printmaking is a process of art that has captured Linda's imagination in providing a means of transforming a story or idea into a visual message to be shared with others. Her imagination is captured by animals native and domesticated as well as everyday life.
From the initial idea or story, Linda develops a pencil drawing of the final image, planning involves how many layers the print will have, the colour, texture, paper used as well as the mix of ink. Drying time is also a major factor and in the Australian climate printing can be challenging, from the cold wet winters to the hot dry summers, all requiring different consideration. Traditionally, artists used Lino (eco friendly linoleum) for relief printing, used milk cartons (Tetra Pak) with a foil interior for intaglio, and copper plate for dry point etching - all mediums used by Linda as printing plates. She has found Cranfield water soluble ink a lovely ink to work with and along with the printing plates they help to support Linda in her off grid, ecological goal towards a healthier more sustainable art practice.
