My Story
For the second year, Mandy Weight opens her home-based studio shed in Merrijig to the public. Fairly new to the world of ceramics, she enjoys creating functional homeware pieces using stoneware clay, alongside intricate floral works in porcelain clay, each hand-painted with care and attention to detail.
Mandy enjoys the slow, hands-on process of working with clay and creates handcrafted ceramics from her studio, inspired by the colours, textures, and quiet beauty of the natural world around her. She enjoys making simple, functional stoneware pieces designed to be used and loved every day, including mugs, bowls, baking dishes, and other homewares.
Alongside her functional pottery, Mandy has developed a love for creating hand-thrown porcelain vases and jewellery jars, decorated with delicate floral details then hand-painted using underglazes. Much of her inspiration comes from her own garden when it comes to life in spring. Bulbs burst into colour in shades of yellow, pink, orange, blue and purple, softened by the gentle greys, greens and blues of the Australian landscape. Mandy’s popular Blooms collection grew from this love of springtime in her garden — celebrating flowers, colour, and the joy of bringing a little beauty into everyday spaces through handmade ceramics.
